The Contemporary Bedroom Guide: From Headboards to Pillows

Contemporary Bedroom Guide

The bedroom is arguably the most important room in your whole house.  This is the room you go to for privacy, where you go to escape after a long day, so it’s important to make this room as stress-free as possible. That’s why we’ve put together a contemporary bedroom guide that does all the work for you.

Contemporary Bedroom Guide

Now any kind of style, whether it be modern, industrial, mid-century, etc. can accomplish this tension-free environment.  But we believe that narrowing in on a contemporary design is the best route.  Contemporary styles comprise of soft, rounded lines with smooth surfaces, commonly accompanied by color palettes that include cream, taupe, and white.  A good focal point to incorporate this design would be the centerpiece of your bedroom, your actual bed.

Contemporary Upholstered Headboard

Let’s start with your headboard.  It’s the most visual part of your bed and will do most of the talking, so it’s important you find one you like.  This upholstered headboard (pictured above) is padded with a neutral color that won’t overwhelm your room.  They have soft corners and a wonderful diamond-tufted design that, when coupled with the right bedding, will be calling your name every time you walk by it.  For those of you who still like what contemporary style brings to the table, but still enjoy that little pizzazz to your bed, feel free to integrate a diamond-tufted feature into your headboard. It’s not too subtle, but it won’t interfere with our objective of making a stress-free bedroom.

Hybrid Ultimate Maximum Comfort Deluxe Plush Pocketed Coil Mattress

Now that you have an idea of what kind of headboards you can look out for, it’s time to get to the meat and potatoes of your bed set, the mattress.  Now, considering your mattress is going to be covered up by sheets and a comforter, it doesn’t really matter what it’s going to look like.  What does matter is the comfort level you’re looking for.  Coil and memory foam mattresses are classic choices you can never go wrong with.  Coil mattresses are inexpensive and do a good job of dispersing heat.  While memory foam mattresses can conform to your body and isolate motion, but they do tend to get hot and hit your wallet a lot harder.  However, have you ever considered going for a hybrid mattress that combines the benefits of both?  If you’re ever on the fence of trying to figure out which type of mattress to pick, always remember there’s that 3rd option of a hybrid.

Medium Warmth Down Alternative Comforter

You’ve got your headboard and you’ve got your mattress.  Once you have your sheets, all that’ll be missing is a comforter and a pillow.  Fill-type, weight, and warmth are 3 important characteristics you want to keep in mind when choosing a pillow and comforter.  These are all personal preferences as to what you enjoy.  I personally like both my pillow and comforter extremely soft and lightweight, because I tend to get hot easily.  I’ve tried heavy pillows, which tend to be more firm, and those end up hurting my neck after a while.  It’s important to find what’s right for you, because you don’t want to constantly be kicking off your comforter from being too hot or completely ditching your pillow because it’s too hard.  There’s nothing worse than having an uncomfortable bed.

It may seem redundant to put so much thought into your bedding, but remember, you’re making your bed room into a zero-stress environment.  Choosing a contemporary style for your bedding will aide immensely in accomplishing this goal.  You deserve the best, you deserve Christies.
